[005] Civil War

This was a fun assignment to shoot. A local historical plantation home hosted a three day long Civil War reenactment of an actual battle that took place on the property.

I stopped by to photograph the event for a feature page. The reenactors were all great to talk to, providing me with many details and stories about the period and the war.

The highlight of the day however was the action on the battlefield which was really something to see and shoot.

[004] Wall of Bees

This was quite an interesting shoot and definitely something you don't see every day. An electrician with Foothills Electric Service stopped by a small house on Ridgecrest Avenue to perform a few routine upgrades when he soon discovered it wasn't the wiring that was buzzing in the walls.

A few calls later put him in contact with David Griffith, president of the Rutherford County Bee Keepers, who soon arrived on the scene to assist. Donning his protective beekeeper's outfit he began removing the house siding to discover a rather large hive of honeybees.

Using a knife he was able to section up and remove the honeycomb, bees and all. The bees were placed into a series of boxes on the back of his pickup truck and set to be relocated to the Burke County. (11 PHOTOS)

[003] Tai Chi

These images were taken while visiting with Angie Edwards, a native of the Philippines, who was instructing a Tai Chi class at the Union Mills Learning Center. Edwards began teaching the ancient form of exercise back in 1972, while living in California. Her small class for this particular day was made up of several ladies and girls of various ages. It was a treat to watch how gently she worked with each one guiding them gracefully though true meditation in motion.  (6 PHOTOS)

[002] Bentley

Meet Bentley, this little guy was the focus of a story I covered about a dog who served as both mascot and hall monitor for students at the Rutherford Opportunity Center. The principal welcomed Bentley into the school, agreeing that having a dog in the classroom would be great therapy as well as help teach the students about responsibility. This was such an enjoyable assignment for me as a dog lover. I had a great time following Bentley around and watching the kids interact with him. (6 PHOTOS)

[001] Roan's New Bow
